Han Jong-hee, President of Samsung Electronics, said this year that it will continue to lead the world TV market for 13 consecutive years by launching new QLED TVs this year.
At the `First Look 2018 Korea` event held at Samsung Electronics Seocho Building, Samsung Electronics, Samsung Electronics, the director of the video display division of Samsung Electronics said, "We have continued to be number one in the world TV market for 13 consecutive years, Our goal is to be a fun game, "he said." It will be about half of this year`s premium TV market, with more than USD 2500 worth of competitors jumping."
Samsung Electronics launched a total of 11 QLED TV models, ranging from 55 to 82 inches, using the Bixby, an artificial intelligence (AI) speech recognition platform. The company plans to add six more 85-inch models in the second half of this year, so only 17 QLED TV models are available in the domestic market this year. In particular, Samsung Electronics said it will widen its market share more than double from its competitors in the 75-inch and larger TV market.
Earlier, Samsung accounted for more than 90% of the domestic 75-inch TV market last year, and 50% of the world TV market. Han said, "Last year, Samsung had a 40% market share in the 65-inch and over TV market around the world, but this year it aims at 60%."
Especially, the growing threat of Chinese TV makers said, "Chinese TV makers may be a threat to small-sized TV products such as 40 and 50-inch TVs, but Korea`s technology cannot be overtaken in a large premium TV market overnight." QLED TV I am sure that Korea will be able to maintain its position this year. "As of 2016, the share of the global TV market by country was 32.2% in Korea and 31.9% in China.
One CEO said, "We have eliminated unreasonable points such as panel disruption last year, diversified product lineups, and achieved new orders this year." We will increase profitability by introducing more than 75-inch QLED TVs. " .
Regarding the entry into the OLED TV business, he said, "We will maintain QLED TV and micro LED TV two-track strategy announced at the beginning of the year." The OLED advancement in the industry is a display research project.
Han said he would not cut production of 40-inch LCD TVs produced at a Chinese factory and exported to the United States. The US administration announced earlier this month that it would impose a high tariff rate of 25 percent on 1,300 Chinese products, and Samsung and LG made 40-inch LCD TVs produced in China on the list. "There are 14 production factories overseas," Han said. "There is no specific decision, but we will produce it in other competitive areas and sell it to the US instead of reducing production at our factories in China." Asked whether the TV would also set up a US plant after the washing machine, he said, "The factory should go with us as well as our partners," he said.
