E-Mart will pilot two autonomous carts at the Traders Henan store on April 17 and 20th and promote commercialization within the next three years.

On April 17, E-Mart held an autonomous cart demonstration at Emart Traders` store in Gyeonggi-do, Gyeonggi-do. When a customer tells a toothbrush as a commodity that they want to search in a round square cart, "Voice recognition, shopping starts" sounded. The cart began to move at a speed of 2 ~ 3 km toward the commodity corner. The cart is Eli, an autonomous cart developed by E-Mart. E-Mart developed the cart after a year of research and development through the S-Lab, a digital technology research organization.

When customer arrived at the corner of the toothbrush, they got a voice from the cart saying, "I have arrived at the toothbrush product. The customer picked up the toothbrush and read the bar code recognition sensor on the cart and put it on the cart. The cart moved to the next corner with the voice guidance "I will start the next product." Suddenly a person appeared while they were walking through the store, and the cart stopped pausing. The cart is designed to automatically stop without encountering obstacles in the store.

The speech recognition function of the cart has not been completed yet. The customer cried `French Cafe` three times as a product they wanted to search but could not understand. The direction recognition function was good. Arriving at the French cafe corner, the cart managed to pick things up easily by turning to the goods. The cart was equipped with a "Mecanum Wheel", a special wheel that moves back and forth, and moved freely in various directions.

E-Mart`s autonomous carts can be paid directly from the cart using credit cards and SSG Pay. An E-Mart official said, "The amount of the card can not be disclosed in confidentiality." It is the ultimate goal of introducing an autonomous cart to the nationwide E-Mart store. "
