Hyundai and Kia Motors have confirmed that they plan to build a production system for 23 kinds of environment-friendly cars in 2020.
According to the plan to expand the number of eco-friendly cars in 2025, which was proposed last year, the plan is to shift to full-scale production of eco-friendly cars from 2020.
According to Hyundai & Kia`s project plans for the new car, which Hyundai and Kia acquired from Hyundai and Kia on the 12th, Hyundai & Kia Motors will introduce the environment-friendly cars, which are the largest ever Hybrid cars (HEV), plug-in hybrid cars (PHEV) It will build a species production system.
The company is adding 15 kinds of eco-friendly cars currently on the market and 8 kinds of new ones.
Hyundai Motor Group announced last year that it plans to produce 38 kinds of environmentally friendly cars by adding 25 cars from 13 eco-friendly vehicles to 2025. Of the 10 new eco-friendly cars to be produced in 2020, only eight new HEVs and PHEVs are excluded. The plan for the production of environmentally friendly vehicles will be gathered in 2020.
Accordingly, in 2020, Hyundai will produce 12 kinds of vehicles and Kia will have 11 kinds of environmentally friendly cars.
Meanwhile, Hyundai is currently selling eight eco-friendly cars. In 2020, four new models will be launched, including the Sonata Wagon PHEV, Tucson HEV £¿ PHEV and Porter EV. Kia Motors will add four eco-friendly new cars, including the K5 PHEV, Niro PHEV and other eco-friendly cars in 2020, including the K5 Wagon PHEV, Bongo EV, Sportage HEV and Sorento HEV.
Sonata Wagon PHEV and K5 Wagon PHEV are exclusive models for Europe. Porter EV and Bongo EV will be released as domestic models. Most of the newly produced new cars are concentrated in the first half of 2020. In the second half of the year, eco-friendly cars will increase, centered on sports utility vehicles (SUVs). Subsequent models of Hyundai Tucson and Kia Motors Sportage are produced as PHEV and hybrid car models, respectively.
The expansion of the green car production system of Hyundai and Kia is interpreted as a measure to cope with the environmental regulations reinforced by the world`s largest markets, the United States and China.
Hyundai said in a statement last year that it should respond to "the ratio of duty to sell carbon-free automobiles in the United States and the production rate of environmentally friendly cars in China," and added, "We will expand the group lineup of 13 cars to 38 by 2025."
