Korean and overseas IT dinosaurs are fighting AI talents. In order to become a competitive company in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, we are strengthening our AI business, but the pool of manpower is limited. Domestic Internet content companies are also taking full advantage of the recruitment of AI talent, and the talent recruitment is expected to become more intense.

According to industry sources on April 2, Samsung Electronics plans to build an AI lab at Montréal, Canada last year, and an AI center under Samsung Research, and an AI center to raise 100 people to Paris. SK Telecom recently introduced Kim, Yoon from Apple as director of AI Research Center. Apple also hired 161 jobs for AI-related jobs last month, and Google builds hundreds of AI labs in China.

While IT dinosaurs such as Samsung Electronics, Apple, Google, and Amazon are lining up to secure AI talent, domestic Internet content companies are also accelerating the acquisition of related personnel.

Naver is expected to recruit AI talents in Asia, setting up a "Naver-Hong Kong Botanical Institute AI Research Center" on 30th to 40th at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The acquisition of Neubar Labs in Europe last year resulted in the acquisition of more than 80 AI experts in Europe.

Kwang Hyun Kim, Naver Search and Clover Leader, said, "The Hong Kong Institute will start with 30 to 40 people at first, but the institute will be close to Shenzhen, a special economic zone of China, so that it will be able to recruit technological start-up talent in the future." Naver acquired 80 AI experts in Europe due to the acquisition of Neighbor Labs last year. In Korea, we are recruiting talent through Naver Labs, a search and clover organization and research and development subsidiary.

Kakao, on the other hand, has selected AI experts to develop deep learning technology, music information search algorithms, speech recognition and synthesis engines.

Netmarble recruited Dr. Lee Jun-young, who has accumulated experience in big data and AI for about 20 years at the IBM Watson Research Institute, as head of AI Center last month. Netmarble plans to establish an AI lab in North America this year and recruit talented people overseas.

Nexon will increase Intelligence Labs, an organization that develops more than 150 AI technologies, to 300 by the end of the year. We are currently selecting developers to work on Intelligence Labs. NCsoft, which operates a 100-person AI center and NLP (natural language processing) center, began recruiting developers to use various AI technologies to create various mobile services from the end of last month.

Korean and foreign IT companies are stepping up their efforts to recruit AI specialists, but companies are losing their jobs because they do not have enough talent. This is because AI developers have not been aware of AI developers for several years. As a result, companies are striving to secure as many talents as possible without limiting personnel. Kwon Young-sik, CEO of Netmarble said, "It is difficult to find AI experts globally." "If there are good talents, we will select them as AI center personnel without any limit on the number of people."
