Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics entered full operation of the air-conditioner production line earlier than usual in line with the 52-hour workweek that will be implemented in July. The demand for air conditioners has greatly increased, but it is to avoid the surge of air conditioning production line working hours in summer.

According to industry sources on March 28, Samsung Electronics has been operating the air conditioner production line at its Gwangju plant since March. In general, Samsung Electronics started full operation of the air conditioner production line in April. However, as air conditioner demand from last year surged, it was earlier than March by one month in order to produce distributed production in advance.

A Samsung Electronics representative said, "We had difficulty in the production line due to a surge in sales due to surging air conditioner demand last year. We will be able to meet the 52-hour workweek, which is scheduled to start in July, especially in pre-distributed production," he said.

LG Electronics has been operating the air conditioner production line in Changwon, Gyeongnam, since February last year. LG Electronics launched its air conditioning production line last March from March. Carrier air conditioner, the third largest air conditioner in the industry, is fully operating its air conditioning production line from March.

Last year, the heat wave caused the air conditioner scarcity, and consumers are buying the air conditioner earlier this year. In addition, the last year`s demand came to some extent this year.

An expert in the distribution industry said, "There has been a situation in which production has not been able to follow up due to the depletion in the peak season of last year, and after September, the product could not be bought at all or the installation could be possible at that time. "Consumers who wait to wait for time to buy a reservation are increasing."

An industry expert said, "We are trying to distribute demand for stable production and sales," he said. "It is also part of this effort to launch a new air conditioner in mid-winter and make reservations early this year."

Meanwhile, the industry forecasts domestic air-conditioner sales will increase by 2.5% this year, up more than 10% from 2.2 million last year. Among them, sales of stand-type products will account for 1 million units.
