LG Group is preparing for the opening ceremony of LG Science Park, which is being built in the Magog district of Seoul, aiming for this month, according to the business circle on March 7.
An industry official familiar with LG said, "We know that the directors are preparing for the opening ceremony of Science Park this month," said Koo Bon-joon, vice chairman of the company, who will attend the event.
The business community expects to hold an opening ceremony around the time since February 27 is the anniversary of the founding of LG`s 71st anniversary. It did not do any other events on the anniversary of the 70th anniversary last year.
The LG Science Park is an observation that it is highly likely to present the vision of the future business together with the opening ceremony before and after the founding anniversary, "LG Science Park should become a place for innovation in R & D in the new era, breaking down the boundaries between industries and overflowing with new challenges," said former Vice Chairman of the New Year. The opening ceremony is expected to invite major political and business leaders.
LG Science Park, a total of 22,200 R & D personnel will be in operation by the first half of this year. R & D personnel of eight subsidiaries including LG Display and LG Chem are in operation starting from LG Electronics in October. As of the beginning of this year, it is said that about 10,000 people have already moved in.
Meanwhile, the Science Park, which will be completed by investing KRW 4 trillion by 2020, has a total floor space of 2.11 million ㎡ (about 335,000 pyung) on a total of 171,000 square meters (24,000 square meters) of 24 soccer fields and has 16 research facilities. Stand. R & D Mechanism plays a key role in research and development of core technologies and core technologies of researchers in new growth businesses such as electronics, chemicals and telecommunication.
The park also includes LG Energy`s 6,000 high efficiency solar modules, LG Chem`s battery-powered power storage system (ESS), heating and air conditioning systems using geothermal heat, smart LED lighting, energy-saving window and insulation materials, System (BEMS), electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and other eco-friendly energy construction technologies.
The business community is paying attention to what messages the former vice president will throw at him at the opening of Science Park. At the meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Kim Dong-yeon at the end of last year, LG introduced the Science Park and announced that it will increase the investment amount by 8% from the previous year to 19 trillion won and will invest more than half in the innovation business field such as autonomous vehicle sensor.
A business representative said, "We expect the former vice president to present management targets for major strategic businesses such as auto parts and new energy." In addition, we expect to have a message about job creation and mutual growth."
An LG representative said, "Although the outline of the opening ceremony is being held in the first half of the year, there is no definite plan that it is in discussions.”
