[Digital Times, Kim Ji-young] The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, the world`s largest telecommunications mobile festival, opened in Barcelona on February 26. Korea has been attracting the attention of the world with its advanced communication technology to its competitors in the face of early commercialization of 5G mobile communication (5G) this year as a place to look at the global information communication (ICT) market this year.
This year, MWC is all about 5G. Korea`s major telecom equipment makers have embarked on the 5G era and have implemented 5G new technologies and ecosystems, including infrastructure, terminals, equipment and services. After the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, the 5G festival was held again in the sky of Barcelona, Spain.
MWC is the world`s largest mobile event hosted by the Global Mobile Communications Operators Association (GSMA), and 2300 exhibitors are on display this year. More than 100,000 visitors attended. KT participated in NGMN (Next Generation Mobile Network) press and industry briefing, one of the major events of MWC 2018 in Barcelona, Spain, and announced the 5G development direction and KT`s 5G preparation status. Board board members, global ICT specialists and analysts participated in the event showed high interest in 5G pilot service know-how and KT`s 5G commercialization plan. In terms of coverage, in-building quality, etc., KT showed the know-how and confidence in the pilot service experience.
