[Digital Times, Kim Yang-hyuk] It has not been able to figure out the amount supported by Tesla electric vehicles while the Ministry of Environment has provided subsidies to electric cars,. The Ministry of Environment is arguing that Tesla is not disclosing the number of vehicles eligible for subsidies. Tesla says it needs to disclose information as transparently as it receives government subsidies.
According to the Ministry of Environment on March 1, 307 Tesla electric vehicles were registered by January this year, based on domestic shipments. Except for 25 cars in January this year, only 282 vehicles were registered last year. Tesla launched its official sales in Korea last June.
However, among the Tesla electric vehicles sold so far, they have not even been able to figure out which vehicles are eligible for subsidies.
A representative from the Ministry of Environment said, "As the subsidies for the electric vehicles are supplemented by state subsidies along with state subsidies, it is necessary to grasp the state of payment for each local government." First, Tesla is not sharing information. "Tesla officials have repeatedly said that "the information can not be disclosed to the outside world."
However, not all Tesla electric vehicles registered in the country are subsidized. Tesla has been included in subsidies for state subsidies since September last year.
The Ministry of Environment has abolished the provision that subsidies will not be paid to electric cars that require more than 10 hours to charge 100% with a full-time charger last September, and the Tesla electric car is included in subsidies. An official from the Ministry of Environment said, "Not everyone received subsidies because some customers bought vehicles before September of last year (Tesla purchaser)."
Some point out that the government subsidizes high-priced imported electric cars up to KRW 200 million for the purpose of supplying electric cars. Tesla is currently selling in the domestic market price of KRW 99.4 million to KRW 118.1 million.
Germany and Norway have already ceased subsidizing Tesla electric vehicles to provide subsidies for high-efficiency electric vehicles in order to distribute more electric cars on a limited budget.
