It is expected that the mobile carrier market will be rebuilt next month. SK Telecom, Korea`s number one mobile telecom operator, predicted a change in the MNO rate plan next month.

The restructuring plan in the mobile communication market will be a strategy for responding to the 5G mobile communications (5G), which will be commercialized next year. Data traffic is expected to increase if 5G is 20 times faster than LTE.

Besides, the government is strongly demanding the introduction of a universal charging system that provides 1GB of data for 20,000 won to mobile carriers. Accordingly, the revision of the plan will be based on data.

CEO Park Jung-ho said on Monday, "Changes are required in the MNO business," at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 press conference held in Barcelona, Spain.

Especially, he pointed out that data plans can be used to a large extent. Park said, "It might be better than an unlimited data plan." Park said, "It will not be the case that more traffic is getting to the users in the 5G era," he said. "It will be introduced from March," suggesting that a variety of new fare plans will come out in turn.

This is the analysis of SK Telecom`s strategy that it is to develop responsiveness to the universal fare system that the government is currently pushing by subdividing the plan. Similar to the universal plan, it is said that telephone and data base fees will be combined with various communication technology services while being inexpensive. Park said, "If you look at the customers who need a universal fare system such as the elderly living alone, you may need communication technology services such as IoT (Internet of Things)." The domestic telecom market is expected to fluctuate as SK Telecom, the number-one operator, refers to the reorganization of the fare system in MWC.
