SK Telecom, on February 26, revealed that it is launching 4G mobile communication (LTE) service with maximum speed of 1Gbps through Galaxy S9, which is about to launch. The speed of 1Gbps is 13 times faster than the initial LTE speed of 75Mbps. Last year, telecom companies evolved much more than 700 ~ 900Mbps, which is the highest rate that they applied frequency band (CA) technology.

SK Telecom has announced that it will introduce 4.5G mobile communication (4.5G) service of 1Gbps or higher within the first half of January. At the time, SK Telecom said it plans to expand its `5-band CA` and `MIMO` technologies to provide a 4.5G environment.

SK Telecom utilizes four LTE bands: 800MHz normal band in order to achieve 1Gbps speed, 1.8GHz broadband, 2.6GHz broadband, and general band. SK Telecom developed a 1Gbps LTE system using CA and 4X4 MIMO technology in December last year to increase data transmission speed.

SK Telecom plans to demonstrate this system in `MWC 2018`. CA is a technology that bundles multiple LTE frequencies into one frequency. This is like a lane-widening operation compared to a lane, so data can be delivered faster. MIMO is like building an overpass, which can double the data transfer rate.

The launch of the Galaxy S9 has also enabled us to show the speed of 1Gbps. In order to realize the speed, a terminal chipset to which a service can be applied is required. The Galaxy S9`s AxisNo 9 9810 can accept up to 12 frequencies and deliver data faster than before.

With the launch of the Galaxy S9, SK Telecom will offer up to 1Gbps LTE service in the traffic areas of major cities such as Busan, Daegu, Gwangju and Incheon, including Gangnam and Shinchon in Seoul. SK Telecom plans to extend the 4.5G environment to 85 cities and 82 counties by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, SK Telecom said that LTE will serve as a supplementary material to maintain the quality of mobile communication until 5G mobile communication (5G) is expanded in earnest. did.
