Visitors are pushing for a step to enter Samsung Electronics' publicity hall in the Olympic Plaza in Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Province, where the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games were held on February 16.

Competition among Korean and foreign companies is getting hotter as the medal competition in each country is fierce, so that a certain marketing result is achieved through the remaining Pyeongchang Olympics for a week. Especially, it is more active than ever to promote 5G and virtual reality (VR) to domestic and foreign visitors looking for the Olympic site while securing the Olympic Games and to attract potential customers.

VR was the most popular at the Samsung Olympics showcase in PyeongChang and Gangneung. Samsung Electronics has operated various experiential zones such as `Gear Ride` and `Skeleton` which have already been introduced at `Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018` using Gear VR. Gear VR was worn on board a special ride to support a variety of virtual experience.
The Samsung Experience Zone attracted more than 100 people in just 30 minutes. The wait line of the visitors has been lengthened even though the staff instructed to wait for 30 minutes or more for the VR experience. A security officer at the scene said, "More than a thousand people visit each day," he said. "We expect to see more than 10,000 people during the Olympic Games, although the number of visitors on weekdays is somewhat reduced."
HYUNDAI and Kia Motors has operated Hyundai Motor Pavilion, an experience museum, where Hyundai has shaped hydrogen energy at various angles in Pyeongchang, and Bit Play, Kia Motors` experiential promotional center in the Gangneung Olympic Park. This exhibition, made by renowned architect Asif Khan, allowed viewers to experience the eco-friendliness of hydrogen cars directly and indirectly, and added artistry to various sculptures.
Hyundai received an application to participate in an autonomous driving test drive event. A representative of Hyundai Motor stated, "About one out of six visitors inquired about the autonomous driving test, and the visitors who have difficulty in driving with long waiting time are guiding the hydrogen car experience event." More than a thousand visitors visit the Hyundai Motor Show every day.
KT, which runs the world`s first 5G mobile communication pilot service in PyeongChang, also operates a public relations center in Gangneung and Gwanghwamun, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the world of 5G. KT surprised domestic and foreign visitors by creating various games using 5G, including `Ice Hockey Challenge`, which enables users to experience real-time transmission of large-scale video data as a game in the experience center `5G Connected` I made a live site in Gwanghwamun so that I can feel the atmosphere of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games.
Meanwhile, KEPCO, the official partner of Pyeongchang, was the first public company to create a publicity center on the topic of "Smart Energy City, Pyeongchang Unfolds" within the PyeongChang Olympic Plaza. Visitors of the Olympic Winter Games such as Biathlon, Alpine Skiing, and Bobsleigh made a variety of virtual reality (VR) experience spaces to experience the future of Smart City in a lively manner.
Besides, Intel and Alibaba also made publicity booths in Gangneung and boasted advanced technology. Alibaba collaborates with SBS, a leading broadcaster in the Pyeongchang Olympic Games, to create a cloud solution called `ET Sports Brain`, which combines SmartPath biometric technology with big data analysis, and alpine skiing, half pipe snowboarding, figure skating, speed skating, Ice hockey, and more. It has attracted the attention of the audience by creating a VR solution experience space where players can experience 30 sports events from the viewpoint of the players and viewers.
An industry expert said, "I expect that the world will be more aware of Korea as an IT powerhouse while using the Pyeongchang Olympic Park big company experience zone." In particular, VR devices and 5G technologies are used in sporting events such as the Olympics, The Olympic Games, "which proves that it is an IT solution optimized for the Olympic Games.
