Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is now being used to block illegal games. Utilizing AI technology to block illegal gaming is expected to spread for the first time and across the industry, depending on performance.

According to the industry on January 30, Nexon recently developed an AI program to find illegal games and started applying it to some games. It is the first time the game industry has used AI technology to detect illegal gaming.

The AI program developed by Nexon uses machine learning technology and image recognition technology to find illegal games. The program was developed by Intelligence Labs, an organization dedicated to AI that Nexon packaged last December.

It is a nuclear detection technology applying workplace detection technology and game image recognition technology, which are two illegal game detection AI programs developed by Intelligence Labs.

Nexon has applied its workplace detection technology to the current PC online game `Mabinogi` and plans to apply it to all games after testing it. The workshop is to acquire a lot of equipment, game money, etc. by opening various accounts and using the game. This shakes the in-game economic system designed by the developer and hinders the smooth game progress of the user. This technology learns about behaviors that appear in programs called `workplace bots` and detects abnormal game use.

Meanwhile, nuclear program detection technology learns common game images when illegal programs are used, and confirms in real time whether users use illegal programs. Nexon recently applied the technology to Sudon Attack, a PC online shooting game. According to the Game Management Committee, 404 cases of illegal programs related to Sudden Attack last year were among the games that were serviced domestically.

Nexon is expected to actively respond to illegal program interception with AI technology.

"We will continue to develop and refine AI technology to block illegal programs that adversely affect game services," Nexon official said. "We are aiming to extend these technologies to all future games."
