SK Telecom is discussing with Hyundai Motor to provide T-map, a navigation system, to some models of Hyundai Motor. It is a strategy that goes beyond the boundaries of mobile through T map which has enough power to be used by more than 10 million users per month.
SK Telecom, on January 22, revealed that it is discussing Hyundai with supplying Hyundai with navigation T maps for specific models. The way of providing is to be one of the way T map is executed on the screen of the car by executing the T map on the smart phone through the mirroring which is a technology that directly mounts the T map on the car body or connects the smart phone and the car body. Currently, SK Telecom is making T-maps available to some models of Kia Motors, Renault Samsung Motors, and Jaguar through mirroring.
A SK Telecom representative stated, "T-maps will be added as one of the optional options as there is Hyundai MNS Soft`s navigation provided by Hyundai Motors."
SK Telecom is also in talks to provide artificial intelligence (AI) voice recognition capabilities to some models of Kia Motors, Renault Samsung Motors, and Jaguar Land Rover, which currently use T-Maps. It is a strategy to update existing T-map to T-map X who can utilize speech recognition function.
Currently, T-Map X has been growing rapidly since its launch in August last year, with cumulative downloads of 800 million at the end of the same year. SK Telecom estimates that the percentage of users who use voice recognition among T-map users will increase from 20% to 45-50% by the end of the year.
On this day, SK Telecom unveiled its new features of T-Map X. The most noticeable feature of this addition is the use of voice calls. You can use the simple command "Aria, call OOO" when you call someone on T map X. It is also possible to resend the call to the previous call destination. When a voice notification is received, a short command "telephone connection" is issued. When you make and receive a call, the T map driving screen is maintained.
It also adds the ability for the driver to visually share or share driving information. The user can query the remaining time or distance to the destination by voice. In addition, the current position and the estimated arrival time can be sent as characters through a voice command. You can also select various routes such as minimum time path and shortest distance by voice. In addition, adding a waypoint or searching for and executing a podcast have been made possible by voice manipulation. SK Telecom explained that the driver`s safety will be improved by reducing the manual operation during operation.
Meanwhile, SK Telecom Innovation SK Telecom Cell Team Manager Kim Yeon-gyu said, "T-Map X is the biggest goal of creating a virtuous cycle structure that will lead to more users, data accumulation and service advancement by expanding POC (consumer contact point) Goal."
