Samsung to mass produce smarter ¡®Exinos9¡¯¡¦ To be installed on Galaxy S9

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its mobile application processor (AP) `EXINUS 9` (9810), which will be the heart of the next strategic smartphone Galaxy S9. It has become smarter by increasing communication speed by 20% more than previous models, and by enhancing artificial intelligence, security and video functions.

Samsung Electronics stated that it started mass production of AP `EXINUS 9 9810` that enhanced modem speed, intelligent image processing function and security.

Meanwhile, the industry expects the Samsung Galaxy S9, the next major smartphone equipped with this product, to be released next month.

Samsung Electronics has developed a 3-generation CPU (central processing unit) core based on the 2nd generation 10-nanopinette (a method of making a transistor with a three-dimensional structure like a fish fin) process and the industry`s best LTE (Long Term Evolution) .

The most noticeable feature is the increased modem performance. By adopting `Category 18 6CA (Carrier Aggregation)` technology, which can utilize 6 frequency bands developed by the company and use it as a broadband frequency, it provides 1.2Gbps download speed and 200Mbps upload speed, which are the highest in the industry. This is 20% and 25% faster than the previous model, the Axion 8895 (download 1Gbps, upload 150Mbps).

Besides, four Octa (8) core structures, which combine four high-performance big cores capable of operating up to 2.9§× and four small-core power-efficient cores, have improved processing speed and power efficiency. Complex operations are supported by Little Core, mainly for Big Core, and simple operations are speeded up by Little Core. Samsung Electronics said it has improved data pipelining and cache memory performance to handle instructions, double the performance of previous products and improve multi-core performance by 40 percent on a single-core basis.

Another big feature of EXINOS 9 is the artificial intelligence using the neural network deep learning technology. Deep learning technology quickly identifies and categorizes stored images on their own. In addition, 3D scanning enables accurate facial recognition. You can safely manage facial, iris, and fingerprint information by applying a separate security processing unit.

Besides, `4 ¡¿ 4 MIMO` multi-antenna technology that uses 4 transmit / receive antennas and enhanced licensed assisted access (eLAA) technology that can utilize license-exempt band frequencies such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth High-capacity Internet broadcasting or 360-degree video streaming.

It also enhanced multimedia functions such as 10-bit HEVC (high-efficiency video compression standard) and V9 (open video codec developed by Google) in addition to 4K UHD (ultra-high definition) video recording. The number of colors that can be expressed has increased from over 16 million to more than 1 billion.

"We will develop into a smart platform that is optimized for the next generation of smart phones, computing devices, automotive and other AI (artificial intelligence)," said Hankook Samsung Electronics, director of marketing for the system LSI division. The product will be unveiled at the CES in Las Vegas on September 9 (local time).
