It will be able to receive patents on seven key technologies related to the fourth industrial revolution such as artificial intelligence (AI) within six months from this year. It is time for applicants such as companies to secure their intellectual property rights more quickly in the era of the fourth Industrial Revolution.

In an interview with the magazine, Sung Yun-mo stated, "Starting this year, we will include patents for seven technology fields, including artificial intelligence, in priority auditing, so that we can support rapid realization of rights."

As a result, when filing patent applications related to the fourth Industrial Revolution, the patent examination period, which took an average of 16.4 months, is 10 months earlier, so that the patent can be registered within 6 months. The seven technologies related to the 4th Industrial Revolution defined by the Korean Intellectual Property Office are artificial intelligence, IoT, intelligent robots, 3D printing, autonomous driving, big data, and cloud computing.

"In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it is important to acquire intellectual property more quickly than anything else, because different technologies are mixed and technology innovation is done quickly," said the chief of the office.

Currently, the Patent Office has established a separate technology classification system to systematically support the seven technology fields. The new technology classification system and screening standards will be made available in cooperation with relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Information and Communication, and the Ministry of Industry and will be used to support research and development (R & D).

Furthermore, it plans to cooperate with the IP5 of the advanced 5 countries to propose to use it as an international standard. In the case of Japan, I started to work on a technical classification system for the Internet of things.

As the IP5 event is held in Korea this year, the chief of the prefecture will arrange seven technical fields related to the 4th Industrial Revolution, technical classification system and examination standards by the end of this year, and the Patent Office for the 4th Industrial Revolution Technology We plan to propose to use our city standards."

The length of time it takes to register a design is reduced from five months to two months.

The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) has amended the `Design Protection Act` enforcement ordinance from the 2nd day to apply the priority examination to the design registration application using the technology related to the 4th Industrial Revolution and obtain the design right within 2 months.

On the other hand, the Korean Intellectual Property Office will recruit specialists in the areas of biotechnology, artificial intelligence, etc.
