LG Electronics has partnered with Israeli gestures and face recognition venture companies to strengthen its autonomous mobile software capabilities. LG Electronics, which has been expanding its business alliance with global information technology (IT) companies such as Google and Qualcomm, is expected to launch a private showcase for automakers at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and will showcase the related technologies.

According to the industry on January 2, LG Electronics will release its infotainment system for automobiles using CES 2018, which uses gesture and face recognition software developed by Israeli technology venture company Eye-Sight Technologies.

"This system will be combined with the infotainment system developed by LG," stated Iisite. "It is a system that can track driver`s hand movements as well as eyelid and iris movements and change vehicle settings according to the driver`s personal preferences.

For instance, a driver turns the navigation screen to the main screen simply by flipping two fingers up without touching the center fesia touch screen next to the driver`s seat. It is the company`s explanation that it is possible to change the setting of the vehicle without selling one eye while driving and thus helping to drive safely.

I-site also announced that LG Electronics is working on a contract with LG to supply the infotainment system with this function to large-sized automakers. The company also plans to expand its cooperation with LG Electronics.

Prior to this, LG Electronics is working with major companies in the world to develop autonomous navigation software and infrastructure. LG Electronics, in 2014, which joined the Connected Car Development Alliance, which was promoted by AT & T, the top US carrier in 2014, was selected as a partner of Google`s autonomous driving vehicle project in 2015 and supplied parts to the concept car `Zea` of the Volkswagen Group affiliate And other technical cooperation.

Last year, the company is also expanding its footprint by partnering with Qualcomm, the world`s number one AP for smartphones, and Hear, a high-precision digital map maker that supplies maps for navigation on more than 100 million vehicles worldwide.

An industry expert stated, "For venture software companies, LG Electronics is already a strong partner in the field of sensor, motor, display, battery, and other hardware components of autonomous vehicles," he stated. "Traditionally, considering the fact that it is high, it will lead to the love call of promising venture companies that are already in touch with LG Electronics, which has already cooperated with major automobile manufacturers such as GM."
