Internet corporations to cut reverse discrimination¡¦ `Google¤ý Facebook` participation in the association within next month

Internet companies are tied up with various laws and regulations and are getting `discrimination against them` while Google is getting rid of all kinds of regulations in Korea.

It will also organize a social dialogue organization so called "Internet Win-Win Cooperation Council" (hereinafter referred to as "consultative body") as early as early next month,. Google and Facebook will participate in the consultation.

Lee Hyo-seong, the chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, met with internet operators at Kensington Hotel in Seoul on December 13 to discuss the issue of discrimination.

The meeting was held in the form of a preliminary discussion before the formation of the council.

At the event, Lee stated, "This year, various opinions were sparked around the policy direction of the Internet market, including the regulation on Internet companies and the issue of regulation equality between domestic and foreign companies." In order to resolve these conflicts reasonably, "He emphasized the importance of the council.

The meeting has been attended by representatives of Han Seong-suk Naver, CEO Lim Ji-hoon, representatives of John Lee Google Korea, Kim Bong Jin elegant brothers, general manager Kim Dae-wook of MCN Association (CJ E & M Director).

Especially, Google Korea and Facebook Korea are expected to participate in the conference.

Google and Facebook were reported to have positively responded to the consultation in a privately held meeting.

"The companies that came out today are going to be included in the council," said an official who attended the meeting. "Google Korea and Facebook Korea also expressed their intention to participate."

Lee also said, "The recent controversy surrounding Internet regulatory policies, such as strengthening portal responsibilities and reverse discrimination with foreign IT (information technology) companies, can be resolved through social agreements. It is important for the business to actively participate."

It also discussed the need to convert Internet corporate regulations into a `negative` approach. Negative regulation refers to the type of regulation that only prohibits and allows innovative new technologies and services in principle. The industry has voiced that the Internet industry is changing fast and that negative regulation is needed to make fast decisions for competition.

Meanwhile, Lee said, "We will build a sustainable broadcasting communication ecosystem by increasing the clarity and predictability of regulations through a negative regulatory transition," and asked the Internet companies to "strive for user protection and fair competition."
