The Seoul subway station is expected to be transformed into a `smart station` that combines the 4th industry revolution technology such as Internet of Things (IoT) and the safety first.

According to the industry on November 22, Seoul Transportation Corporation is planning to make 277 subway stations managed by Seoul Metropolitan Transportation Corporation in Seoul area as `Smart Station` by 2022. First, it will select the 5th and 7th lines of Gunja history as a demonstration smart station and plan to build a system by injecting 1.9 billion won next year.

Smart Station is a station equipped with IoT, sensor networking and advanced CCTV in the history of the existing subway system to prepare for a disaster such as security threat or earthquake. Seoul Transportation Corporation recently notified the relevant companies and system integration (SI) companies of the relevant standards with the goal of establishing the plan and building the system next year.

Currently, 20 ~ 30 CCTVs are installed in Seoul subway station. However, since the pixel is not high, it was difficult to recognize a person or identify the equipment.

Seoul Transportation Corporation plans to install an intelligent CCTV of 200 mega-squad through the `Smart Station` to make it easy to recognize objects and once a high-quality CCTV system is built, it is possible to grasp the condition of the track inside the tunnel, so that it can cope with the crisis rapidly.

Seoul Transportation Corporation will also build a system that can integrate and manage various devices such as broadcasting equipment, lighting control equipment, fire reception equipment, etc. in the subway history. Through this, it is planned to eliminate the blind spot of safety by using the integrated system to the service center and the central control center that has the station as well as the station. In particular, it is reported that IoT technology, which can detect the problem remotely in real time by attaching a sensor to the track, is also under consideration.

Large-scale budget input is expected in this project. An official of Seoul Metropolitan Transportation Corporation said, "It is a large-scale project with at least 700 million won invested in one station." Even if the minimum amount is invested in 277 stations managed by Seoul Transit Corporation, it will cost about 200 billion won or more.

As it is an enormous amount of money, the telecom industry is working to be selected as a pilot company. According to the telecom industry, telecom operators are currently discussing internal solutions to build the solution and are expected to submit proposals by the end of December.

An expert from the mobile carrier industry said, "We are discussing various solutions to keep the safety of the citizens and to manage the subway history smoothly."

Meanwhile, Seoul Transportation Corporation will soon announce the tender for this project.
