Trump’s visit to Korea -Korea-US summit

US President Donald Trump visited Korea in 25 years as a state-sponsored diplomat.

President Moon and President Trump agreed on strengthening the South Korea-US alliance against the North Korean nuclear crisis at the sole and extended summit meeting held at Cheong Wa Dae on July 7. In particular, President Trump summarized trade issues such as the trade imbalance between Korea and the US, the Korea-US free trade agreement (FTA), and the purchase of US military assets in Korea.

Trump stated at the summit, "I appreciate Korea`s decision to buy US military facilities and weapons," he said. "It will help reduce the US trade deficit."

"The amount of US military equipment to be ordered by South Korea will increase in the future," he said. "The trade deficit between Korea and the US must be solved." Trump also said North Korea is at the center of the discussion.

Meanwhile, Mr. Moon expressed his condolences to President Trump on behalf of the Korean government and the people of the United States on the shooting at Texas. President Moon said, "The United States appreciates the international cooperation with the top priority in resolving the North Korean nuclear issue," and said, "We look forward to a strong message to North Korea during the visit."

President Trump said he focused on trade issues such as the trade imbalance between South Korea and the United States and the Korea-US free trade agreement (FTA) since the first event. President Trump said, "It`s the reason I came here to create a lot of jobs in the United States," he said. "There is a great deal of cooperation with Korea," Trump told the Camp Humphreys base in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.

Mr. Trump, on the other hand, said, "We will hold an excellent meeting with Moon Jae-in, his delegation soon after, and the trade will soon be finished," Trump told reporters at the summit.
