[Digital Times, Kim Ji-yeong] KT unveiled a maritime safety solution which uses LTE communication and intelligent CCTV to prevent collision of small ships. KT plans to build a business model for small vessels that are half of the shipping market and speed up the maritime safety net business.
KT Corporation will hold a press conference to introduce `Maritime Network Solution` at BEXCO in Busan on October 25. KT will provide marine navigation solution `Marine Navi` to prevent collision of small ships, skyship based on the maritime LTE coverage, a marine integrated surveillance system that combines the best of both worlds.
KT Marine Navigation is an integrated ship safety solution that displays maritime traffic information and marine situation images on a single display based on LTE communication network and intelligent CCTV. KT`s Marine Maritime Analysis Platform fuses with the satellite positioning system (GPS) information of the basic navigation information such as the position and speed of the surrounding vessels collected by the Automatic Identification System (AIS). It is characterized by the display. It will automatically recognize and inform ships approaching with `Deep Run` function and warn when the risk of collision analyzed by GPS information and video exceeds the standard value.
"We have not yet commercialized a single solution, but about 50% of all fishing vessels are small-sized," said Mr. Oh Sung-mok, head of KT network division. "Marine Navi was developed to replace expensive equipment that was not activated for small- In terms of marine environment about 50% of the marine market is expected to be the market size of the technology."
Besides, KT is expected to be able to provide stable marine surveillance with SKY developed jointly with SMEs. Skyship is an airship-type unmanned airplane that combines a helicopter-filled airplane with propeller propulsion. It combines the advantages of a drones and an airship to provide a stable and systematic maritime surveillance and propagation. Skyship can fly up to 70 km/h, up to 25 km from the driver, up to 8 hours, and is less likely to crash because it is in the form of an airship. Using 360-degree camera and LTE communication module, it is possible to transmit HD-level video taken from KT Skydice to mobile monitoring platform or maritime safety control center in real time. KT SKYSS can be used for various emergency night search, rescue operation and support as well as water accident through thermal camera and 9LL LED light.
Mr. Oh mentioned, "We plan to package maritime network solutions that have been launched today and propose them to marine and navy, government agencies and other organizations." In particular, with the invitation to Marine week 2017, some local governments and overseas operators And it will improve its business base by next year. "
Meanwhile, KT is expected to continue to develop universally available maritime safety solutions, starting with Marine Navies and SkyShips. In particular, KT plans to complete the `Total Maritime Safety Platform`, which enables easy fusion of new technologies based on KT`s maritime LTE coverage, in cooperation with technologically advanced SMEs. Besides, KT plans to propose maritime safety solutions developed on the basis of accumulated technology and know-how in the disaster safety field to the public safety net business such as the high-speed maritime communication network in addition to the private business field.
