[Digital Times, Kim Ji-young] SK Broadband revealed the 20th anniversary of its founding, accelerating the digital transition, and declared that it will be reborn as the first wired and wireless media platform operator in Korea in 2021.

SK Broadband stated on September 21 that it will push boldly to make a big digital transition to become the best wired and wireless media platform in Korea by 2021. The company has implemented information and communication technology (ICT) in celebration of the 20th anniversary of its founding, which will lead the fourth industrial revolution such as Big Data Solution, AI, Cloud Computing and Internet of Things (IoT). The company plans to concentrate its company-wide capabilities in creating new value by actively utilizing it.

Therefore, SK Broadband plans to invest KRW 5 trillion in the next five years, with an annual average of KRW 1 trillion to innovate the media business on the basis of big data and AI and to upgrade its infrastructure through new ICT technology. It is a strategy to expand home biz such as home-use IoT and build a new specialized market such as cloud. SK Broadband will differentiate its media-related products and services based on new technologies, such as recommending content that Btv customers need, recommending and manipulating words conveniently, and enjoying various genres of content easily. Besides, the company plans to strengthen its new business model (BM) such as digital advertising and T-commerce by expanding its subscriber base through strengthening customer value. It will expand the use of Btv to interactive user interface & User experience (UI £¿ UX) It is a policy based on the AI service set-top box commercialization and AI service enhancement in the beginning of the year. SK Broadband is expected to lead the new specialized markets such as cloud and IoT related to B2B business and actively expand new growth business through strategic alliance.

Meanwhile, SK Broadband will build a flexible network infrastructure based on virtualization technology and expand Giga Internet service coverage through the elimination of coverage holes and media conversion, and increase the capacity to accommodate future services such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). It plans to change to a network structure as well.

SK Broadband is expected to offer 2,100 of its existing customers by the end of its 20th anniversary on October 31, and will provide benefits such as a one-year free subscription to the Internet, SK Telecom`s AI device £¿Nugu Mini£¿ and 50,000 points of B point. Customers who use online video service `corn` will receive 20% points for purchasing corn content and `City Hall King Selection Event`.
