The Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), one of the world`s largest motor shows and the world`s oldest motor show, held for the first time in 1897 and 67 times this year. As a motor show in Europe, it emphasizes the appearance of a diesel car and is ready to welcome a new era with an electric car.

According to the organizers, IAA, the theme of the 2017 IAA is `the future` of automobiles. Connectivity between drivers and cars and eco-friendly technology are among the main attractions. Approximately 1000 exhibitors from 39 countries participate. There are about 50 major automobile brands in the world. The exhibition space is 200,000 square meters.

Some Japanese brands such as Nissan and Infiniti and major brands such as Jeep, Volvo and Peugeot have declared their absence, but they are still the most prestigious motor shows. The number of cars to be introduced for the first time in the world is 228, which is nine more than last year. The first model to be introduced in Europe is 64, more than double the number of motor shows last year.

The IAA, while acknowledging the negative public opinion about the latest car being discussed, emphasized that it is essential for the European plan to reduce CO2 in the future.

However, Germany`s major automakers have launched eco-friendly cars such as electric cars ahead of them. It is interpreted as conscious of the negative public opinion about the diesel car which appeared in the inside and outside.

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz is expected to unveil the concept car EQ A for the first time in the world at this car show. While BMW sold 60,000 electric vehicles in 2013, Mercedes had no choice but to look at them. In addition, the hydrogen fuel cell plug-in hybrid SUV (sports utility car) `GLC F-CELL EQ power` for the first time.

BMW goes a step further. The high-performance model of the representative electric car i3 was completed. i3s achieved immediate power delivery and efficient energy efficiency through its eDrive technology. Maximum power of 184 horsepower and maximum torque of 27.5 kg • The power performance is 6.9 seconds for zero-back (time to reach 100 km per hour from standstill). The maximum mileage has also increased to 280 km.

Mini-car brand MINI also unveils `MINI ELECTRIC CONCEPT` for the first time. The Mini E, developed for the first time by the BMW Group in 2008, influenced the development of the BMW i3. The mass production target of mini electric concept to be released this year is the year after year.

Volkswagen offers ID clovers that are closer to production. The ID Crossing is a crossover utility vehicle (CUV), which is about 500 kilometers long. It can charge up to 80% in 30 minutes with a fast charger and has a maximum output of 302 horsepower.

Hyundai and Kia Motors, which are Korea`s leading companies, plan to promote eco-friendly models including electric cars. Hyundai will show pure electric cars, Ionic Electric, Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) models. Ionic Electric is estimated to have a 191km single-charge mileage, making it shorter than a long-distance electric car such as the Model 3 and Bolt, but fuel-efficient and attracting popularity. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Ioniq electric car scored 136mpGe for the BMW i3 (124MPGe), GM Chevrolet Volt EV (119MPGe) and Tesla Model S 60D (104MPGe). Kia presents the PHEV model of the NILO and the K5 Wagon, the Soul electric vehicle.
