`IFA 2017` of Germany

[Digital Times, Kim Eun] The biggest European appliance exhibition in Berlin, Germany, the IFA 2017, is set to begin next month.

The exhibition is expected to become a battleground for `smart home` that connects household appliances using the Internet of things and artificial intelligence.

`IFA 2017`, which will be held from September 1 to 6 in Germany, is expected to attract more than 1,600 companies and related organizations from 50 countries and more than 240,000 visitors to the exhibition hall.

In this exhibition, global electronics companies such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Miller, Panasonic, and Haier will compete in a fierce competition by providing a smart home space connecting household appliances in the home.

The slogan of this exhibition is `Your New Normal` and `Innovation for Better Life` by Samsung Electronics. The internet of Things (IoT) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) control were the hot topics of home appliances makers, but this year we will show a lot of smart home appliances that have further enhanced mobile connectivity.

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics will open the largest exhibition space of 8,330§³ in IFA 2017 this year, and create a smart home experience space that connects all household appliances and mobile devices of Samsung Electronics. In particular, Samsung Electronics applied `AI` function based on voice recognition to `Family Refrigerator`, which was introduced last year, and used it as a `hub` of smart home.

The reason why the refrigerator is the best smart home hub is because the refrigerator is a 24-hour consumer electronics appliance. Samsung Electronics plans to use the wireless Internet to connect to each other and expand connectivity to control all home appliances by voice only. In this exhibition, visitors will have a chance to experience how AI and IoT technologies work in real users` homes. The artificial intelligence will also show you how to search for recipes and order food materials.

LG Electronics, on the other hand, will use smart home application SmartThinQ to introduce a smart home that connects all the home appliances in the house. Last year, IFA exhibited `LG Signature`, a premium home appliance product aiming to launch in Europe, and this year it will show a large number of premium consumer electronics products such as LG Signature. It also shows premium refrigerators such as clothes washing care appliances such as twin wash, dryer, and Trom styler, purify air clean humidifier, and knock on magic space. In particular, LG Electronics will showcase seven home electronics products such as refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, air conditioners, air purifiers, robot cleaners, ovens, and other technologies that work with Amazon`s voice recognition AI speaker `Eco` and Google`s AI speaker `Google Home` Is expected.

Especially in the wireless cleaner sector, Samsung Electronics is challenging LG Electronics. LG Electronics launched its cordless cleaner `Code Zero A9` in June and posted sales of more than 40,000 units in eight weeks. Samsung Electronics will release a wireless cleaner `Power Gun` at this exhibition.

An industry expert said, "Although IFA is not as much an exhibition as new product launches are held in the United States at the beginning of every year, Samsung and LG are focusing on home appliances companies focusing on premium products, It is a major exhibition that can measure the size of the city."
