KT to present `5G experience marketing`
[Digital Times Jang Yoon-won] KT launched a variety of experiences using 5G technology and started commercialization of 5G service. KT`s 5G new technology is announced, and at the same time, the line for market preemption.
KT held `KT 5G Land`, a 5G experience marketing event, in Haeundae Beach, Busan from August 11 to August 13.
In 5G zone, visitors can experience new technology using 5G. In this 5G Land, 360 degree virtual reality (VR), time slice, mixed reality (HADO) Of-the-art technology.
The 360-degree VR has been introduced at this event was a video created by stitching technology that made high-quality video shot by a dedicated camera transmitted in real time over a high-speed network, and caused the illusion that the viewer had moved directly to a place in the video. Time Slice is a service that allows you to view still images taken at the same time with 21 cameras at a desired angle, and the visitors pick up one of their own images taken at 21 angles and instantly receive them as a photograph. Also, `Drone Academy` where customers can learn how to drown their own drone and `Drone Clash` where two drunks are fighting like mixed martial arts have opened and attracted visitors to Haeundae.
KT also introduced a variety of self-developed drones that can be used in real life.
`Thermal imaging drones` detect people`s heat faster than rescue workers and find the victims. `Base station drone` connects the network even in the event of a disaster. Also, `Fine dust measurement drone` developed by the fusion of artificial intelligence TV giga Genie and air doctor of air quality measuring instrument can measure fine dust regardless of area and place.
KT also introduced a new sport called `HADO`, which is enjoyed through AR video. Hado is a sport in which a player can see an AR image (HMD) on his or her head, and a sensor that recognizes AR markers on both sides of the body is attached to the body.
KT will hold `5G Land` event in Haeundae, and will hold the event at the Jara Island Festival and DMC Festival, the ground troop festival in Gyeongdong University in October, and the `Drones World Competition` in Seoul Plaza in November.
Lee Pil-jae, managing director of KT`s marketing strategy department, explained, "We have set up 5G Land, a theme park to enjoy 5G in order to recognize that 5G service that does not touch the skin can be played with us. Haeundae does not stop at the whole country, 5G will show up as a wandering theme park. We are trying to show the world`s first 5G pilot services in the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Games, and each individual visitor of PyeongChang Olympic is preparing a plan to experience 5G service through smartphone."
