There is a high demand for researchers related to artificial intelligence (AI) of companies. As a result of lack of manpower, AI-related technical manpower `ransom` is running as a ceiling land.

According to the headhunting industry on July 4, data analysts with expertise in the field of machine learning are promising companies with an annual salary of more than KRW 100 million as early as five years ago.

As a company, AI researchers will soon be the core competitor, so even if the `ransom` is high, they have to be brought before competitors.

An employee of a foreign headhunting company stated, "Compared to data analysts in general finance and consumer marketing, who have 10 years experience (doctoral degree, Ph.D. + 7 ~ 8 years experience) receiving KRW 70~80 million in annual salary. A data analyst with a degree usually has an annual salary of at least KRW 100 million for the next 10 years or at least as early as the fifth year."

Machine learning is a technology which gives learning ability to machines through a large amount of data and algorithms, and is a key technology for AI implementation. It uses algorithms to analyze data, learn from our own data analysis, and judge and predict based on our learning.

In the case of a master`s degree in AI related fields, those who have practical experience in `less than 5 years` who are hardly considered to be highly talented people will be offered an annual salary of KRW 70 to 80 million. It is an analysis that the phenomenon is widespread when there is almost no ¡®expert¡¯ in the AI field for more than five years of experience.

According to the headhunting industry, domestic companies currently seeking to recruit AI talents prefer personnel who majored in electrical and computer engineering at overseas universities or domestic universities. Especially, among the domestic universities, KIST (KAIST), Ulsan University of Science and Technology (UNIST), and Pohang University of Science and Technology are receiving intensive `Love Calls`. In particular, a college graduate who is in charge of data analysis in the fields of security, virtual and augmented reality is named as one of the candidates for recruitment.

An industry expert said, "Domestic companies that are involved in AI-related businesses are those who have engaged in intelligent data analysis at large enterprise security companies, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and are in intensive contact.¡±

The main reason why companies want to recruit them with a lot of salary is that their work is closely related to the AI business and that they can work directly on their AI business.

With regard to the security company, proposals are being made for developers of intelligent surveillance systems that can combine the algorithms of the security system so that they can detect themselves by themselves. Data analysts working in VR and AR video companies are attracting attention as they can analyze the usage patterns of VR and AR contents and device users, and develop algorithms to respond to them. In the case of data analysts in CCTV video companies, CCTV programs are preferred because they can develop algorithms that recognize people`s behavior as images (learn violent and routine behavior by themselves) and predict the likelihood of crime.

On the other hand, the global AI market is projected to reach USD 2 trillion in 2025 and the ripple effect of the AI industry to reach KRW 6.7 trillion (KRW 7688 trillion, McKinsey).
