PC users caution is required on false advertising on websites, which claim 100% restoration of the infected data of Ransomware with their own technology in the world when `Wannacry Ransomware` attack occurs.

According to the Korea Internet & Security Agency on May 18, there are only 16 Ransomware damage reports from May 13 to May 17, but the total number of inquiries through 118 telephone counseling centers is estimated to be more than 5012 cases, which is more than actual damage.

According to the security industry and police, no security technology has been developed yet to block all types of Ransomware and to decrypt 100% of all Ransomware apart from about 40 old Ransomware viruses. However, many data restoration companies attract PC users` attention by advertising messages such as "Ransomware is fully recoverable" and "Ransomware recovery is 100%" in blogs and cafes of internet portal sites.

Most of these companies are in the industry analysis that PC repair and data recovery companies have recently changed their signs only with the rapid increase in cases of Ransomware. If we look closely at advertisings, what these companies do is more like brokering, not data restoration. It sends a bit coin which is difficult to access to the public to the hacker, and receives the decryption key to recover the data.

Although, there are some companies that make this clear, many criticize the fact that most companies are paying huge fees for exaggerated advertising.

A data restoration company in Daegu is advertising with the latest data restoration equipment and new technology, emphasizing that it is quick to deal with situations and has excellent resolution capability. The public cannot easily understand the properties of Ransomware, so it is easy to fall into such false advertising. A recent data backup company, Acronis, found that more than 66% of respondents were aware of the existence of Ransomware and only 5.8% of respondents were aware that they needed to pay for the damage.

An expert of a data restoration company pointed out, "In an unscrupulous company, they claim that their service is expansive as they pay to hackers and restore the data. This is a lie. He also added. "Companies that offer less than the cost of the product at a lower cost and require a full prepayment often do not even try to solve the problem."

Meanwhile, if you are infected with Ransomware, you can get police services instead of expensive data restoration companies. Police have provided a Korean site, "No More Ransomware", which provides free data restoration programs for victims of Ransomware since April. The partners of the site include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kaspersky Lab, Avast Software, McAfee, and Checkpoint. AhnLab Inc. and East Security have also recently released a free tool that will prevent the infection of Wannacry ransomware infection."
