KRW 4.1 trillion of public SW•ICT device order this year….up 1.7% year on year

It has been confirmed that the public sector SW•ICT device and information protection business size is KRW 4.75 trillion.
The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs held the ``2017 Public SW, ICT device and Information Protection Project Demand Forecast Confirmation Meeting`` at the Korea Science and Technology Center in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul on March 20.
According to a demand forecast survey, the total budget for SW • ICT device in 2152 public sector this year increased by 1.7% to KRW 4.75 trillion.
The SW increased 4.0% to KRW 3.126 trillion and ICT device decreased 5.2% to KRW 949.7 billion among them. By institution type, national institutions accounted for 1.4876 trillion won, accounting for 36.5% of the total, while local governments, education and public institutions accounted for KRW 2. 588.1 billion (63.5%).
The budget of the SW project was KRW 2.8455 trillion (91%) and purchase amounted to KRW 280.5 billion (9%) from the previous year. In the SW construction business sector, the construction and operation and maintenance projects are worth KRW 121.4 billion, KRW 1.6745 trillion and development sector is worth KRW 764.7 billion, respectively.
Especially, the number of businesses under the KRW 4 billion under the scope of the SME business area reached KRW 1,734.4 billion, up by 10.3% from the previous year, while that of conglomerates decreased by 11.1% to KRW 740 billion.
If we look at SW development per organization, the Ministry of National Defense (MOE) has the largest number of KRW 188.7 billion, followed by Korea Information Technology Promotion Agency (KRW 123.6 billion), Korea Electric Power Corporation (KRW 119.1 billion), Regional Information Development Corporation (KRW 95.9 billion ) and Ministry of Land (KRW 74.2 billion).
Security software increased 20.4% to KRW 63.8 billion and system management software decreased 49% to KRW 20.9 billion, while the budget for SW purchasing business was same as last year.
Computing device grew 3.1% to KRW 721.7 billion, network device decreased 27.5% to KRW 70 billion, and broadcasting device increased 4.0% to KRW 31.1 billion. Public agencies accounted for KRW 20.97 billion, followed by local governments KRW 96.5 billion, government agencies KRW 76.6 billion and educational institutions KRW 26.7 billion. By type, HW was KRW 150.2 billion, information security service was KRW 142.6 billion and SW was KRW 116.7 billion.
A representative of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, mentioned, ‘Demand forecasting will enable SW companies to prepare for technology development and business planning in advance. In the future, new technologies such as cloud, big data, and artificial intelligence will be reflected in demand forecasts under preparation for the fourth industry revolution.’
