Watching paid broadcasting TV without a receiver¡¦ Samsung solution commercialized in Germany

[Digital Times, by Kim Eun] Samsung Electronics has commercialized a TV key solution jointly developed with Switzerland¡¯s Kudelski Group``s digital TV business ¡®Nagra¡¯ in Germany for the first time in January.
According to a foreign sources on March 8, Samsung Electronics and TV KEY solution developed by Nagra of Kudelski Group, a provider of security solutions for the world digital broadcasting, has been commercialized by collaborating with major satellite broadcasting company of Germany such as HD + for the first time.
The next-generation security solution- the TV key solution allows users to watch HD + paid satellite broadcasts such as 4K and HDR (High Dynamic Range) contents through using a USB dongle TV key without adding a separate set-top box and receiver. Security is important in the case of smart TV as security is the key device that users can process payment service and various contents. UHD broadcasts are currently available for a fee, and content providers have been troubled by problems such as hacking accounts or viewing security by some users.
A representative of Samsung Electronics mentioned ¡®The TV key solution can be applied globally and also it can be applied under partnership with content providers in different regions as well as to other retailers in other countries in the future. We are planning to expand our business based on possible demand overseas.¡¯
As a result, Samsung Electronics will collaborate with German satellite broadcasting company HD + to provide free TV key solution to users who purchased Samsung smart TV during the 6 month event period and offer to switch to regular subscription when the period expires. Lee Hyo Gyun- Vice president of VD business division of Samsung Electronics, stated, ¡®HD +, which has launched TV key solution for the first time, is expected to lead the market with new technologies that are beneficial for telecommunication companies and new TV customers.¡¯
