MWC 2017 – Samsung Electronics unveiled premium tablet

Samsung Electronics is planning to impress visitors by unveiling a premium tablet at Mobile World Congress (MWC) this year. ‘Galaxy Tab S3’ and ‘Galaxy Book’ will play the role of reliever. Interest in these new tablets is expected to revive Samsung Electronics`` pride, which has been waning due to the unsuccessful release of the Galaxy Note 7 and the delayed launch of its strategic smartphone Galaxy S8.

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy Book 2 on February 26 at Congress center in Catalonia, Spain (local time) the day before the opening of the MWC.

In particular, the thing that attracted attention on this day was that Samsung Electronics started the event with ``self-reflection``. Samsung Electronics showed its smartphone quality test video in a ``standard tactics’ to overcome the Galaxy Note 7 discontinuity. The company released a premium phone every year at MWC, but this year it was rated as being slightly weighty due to the delay of Galaxy S8 announcement due to Gallaxy Note 7 situation.

. David Lewis-the executive director of Samsung Electronics Europe branch said that ‘We have had a very hard time in the last six months. And we were not able to meet not only our quality standard but also clients’ expectation’. He explained the product safety verification system and said that ‘We will improve the battery safety through creating a group of experts, academics and market researchers to get advice and improve battery safety’.

The Galaxy Tab S3 and the Galaxy Book are equipped with a super AMOLED display that displays 4K high-definition video playback and natural color. Samsung also unveiled ``Samsung Flow``, which provides HDR (High Dynamic Range) function that maximizes brightness and contrast and can easily link smartphone and tablet.

One of the biggest features is that these tablets support the input device S pen of the Galaxy Note series. The ``S Pen`` recognizes the 0.7mm pen tip and the pressure of 4096 steps to express fine and delicate details. Applause broke out throughout the venue when the company announced the S Pen was a basic offering for tablet buyers. Soon after, when Samsung introduced S Pen, which has been cooperated with STAEDTLER, a well-known German stationery maker, even bigger applause and cheers came out.

Haman``s audio specialty brand AKG also applied the sound technology. Galaxy Tab S3 is equipped with four stereo speakers to enable users to enjoy a rich sound. The Galaxy Tab S3 is the first collaboration example after Samsung Electronics acquired Haman. The Galaxy Book is a Windows 10 operating system (OS) -based tablet, which can be used to attach and detach the keyboard based on the purpose of use. It will be available in two types, 12.0 and 10.6 depending on the size of the display.

The heat of the reporters in each country was unexpectedly hot despite of the Galaxy S8 was missing at the event. Local and foreign reporters stood in a long line outside of the event hall to enter the event hall even before the event began. There were a lot of reporters sitting on the floor because there were not enough seats in the event hall. Galaxy Tab S3 and the Galaxy Book Experience corner was full of visitors.

There was also an emergency situation. Greenpeace members from the environmental group suddenly jumped out of the venue and exclaimed with a banner written as ‘Samsung has to reconsider Galaxy Note 7 reuse’, after the event started about 20 minutes late than expected due to the display problem on the front of the event hall.
