Hwang Chang Gyu-the CEO of KT group (photo), in front of worldwide mobile-service companies, has declared to commercialize next generation network-5 G (generation) mobile-service first in the world in 2019. It will be after launching 5G service trial first in the world in Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.

As the first keynote speaker at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona, Spain, CEO Mr. Hwang has given speech on the theme of "New World Beyond 5G" and revealed his company¡¯s plan.

The screen has shown a 5G high-tech service image to be launched at the PyeongChang Olympic Games, including "Sink View," which shows the bobsleigh game vividly, and "Time Slide," which is able to show the figure skating performance from various angles as CEO Mr. Hwang came to the stage to give his speech. He stated that 5G will bring new world beyond simple network evolution. And KT will commercialize 5G service first in the world in 2019¡¯. It will bring a new world beyond simply network evolution. "In 2019, KT will commercialize 5G service for the first time in the world."

It is the second time since 2015 that CEO Mr. Hwang has been the keynote speaker for the MWC. This year, he has specifically presented how 5G will create a new world. He explained that 5G is differentiated by ``intelligent`` with fast speed, seamless connectivity and massive capacity unlike previous generations`` networks, which emphasize speed over 5G. He also emphasized the differentiation of network intelligence and cited solutions of KT.

The first field of intelligence is ``location information``. While existing GPS has a large error range and is based on 2D map, the company``s ``Giga 3D location sensor reduces the error range to within 1 meter and provides 3D position information. It also enhances maritime safety by combining with the Internet of Things (IoT).

The second solution field is ``network security``. He explained that the company``s portable security platform ``Wiz Stick`` provides a network-based security solution. The third solution is the ``control capability``. CEO Mr. Hwang stated that ¡®Intelligence¡¯ is important in 5G network service as it is aimed to reduce the risk factors that are increasing in line with technology development¡¯. In the 5G world, everything is connected with network and expected to produce vast amounts of information so called big data. He insisted that it should be used as an important key to solve the problems facing humanity such as environment and disease. For instance, energy management platform ``KT-MEG`` and ``smart quarantine`` are based on roaming information.

CEO Mr. Hwang predicted that the network and big data along with artificial intelligence would evolve into an ``intelligent network`` in the 5G era. It means that the intelligent network will completely transform existing industries and markets into the mainstream of the fourth industrial revolution. He also mentioned that 5G commercialization is necessary for mobile-service companies to promote overseas expansion. Telecommunication- one of the leading domestic industries, has been characterized by high barriers among countries, but the barriers in the 5G era are likely to be low or likely to disappear. 5G is a combination of big data and artificial intelligence (AI), as it is necessary to commercialize earlier so that it will be more competitive. CEO Mr. Hwang stated that ¡®5G will be the power to change the world through intelligent networks that combine advanced ICT technologies such as location, security, solutions, big data as well as artificial intelligence¡¯.
