As Naver will release AI speakers in the first half of this year, the company is making efforts to secure high-quality audio contents to secure platform competitiveness.
However, there is a long way for Naver to go after the global giants that are already in the market.
According to the industry on February 19, Naver will launch AI system-¡®Amica¡¯ which combined AI speakers, within the first half of the year.
Naver is focusing on building its content that can be used more frequently as it is a device used for users`` daily life. However, there is no specific guideline for audio contents and there is still much thing to fix possible problems as the content might be ¡®Killer content¡¯ without specific guideline.
The audio content is emerging as the core content in the AI speaker market, where people and machines communicate with ``voice``.
Naver launched ``Audio Clip`` service, which can be combined with various services at the end of last month in order to secure the audio contents
The audio clips are an audio content platform for knowledge, culture and utility. Currently, 65 channels and contents in the form of podcasts (lectures, lectures, humanities, books, culture, history, science, etc.) are operated and provided to users. Also contents in the form of a moving picture are provided.
Naver mentioned that new types of contents such as ``Premium audio guide`` such as art gallery and museum, audio magazine ``AudioZine`` and ``Audio recipe`` can be provided.
AI speakers and self-driving cars combined with Naver``s hardware will make it easy for users to enjoy the audio content they want.
However, it is only a matter of securing audio contents about knowledge and culture, but there is no specific guideline for contents provider or audio quality. Therefore it will take time to provide high quality contents.
Users can feel the sound quality, when they play back the content provided by the actual audio clip,
The content provider also was found that Naver had only a comprehensive set of criteria, so called "Content producers who make good voice."
This contrasts with Amazon and Google``s aggressive moves to preempt audio content in the age of AI speakers.
Amazon, which introduced ``Eco`` in 2014, has secured vast amounts of content through alliances with traditional media such as Washington Post, Ted, The New York Times and Forbes, focusing on the audio book service company based on Acid, which was acquired in 2008. On the other hand, Google launched Google Home last year and is partnering with YouTube Music, Sporty, TuneIn and Pandora.
A representative of Naver said that ¡®It is true that content is insufficient yet because it is a beta service. We are considering specific guidelines such as adding ¡®automatic audio correction¡¯ function that can automatically upgrade the sound quality to a clearer sound.
