Hybrids and small vehicle sales have increased significantly as oil prices have risen recently,

According to the automobile industry on December 7, when gasoline prices surpassed KRW 2,000 per liter a month ago, hybrid cars and light-duty cars that are fuel-efficient are being sold like wings.

It is an analysis that consumers` purchasing patterns are changing, such as the popularity of gasoline vehicles that have been promoted until the third quarter due to low fuel prices, and demand for high-fuel vehicles. Among the hybrid cars that have risen since the Volkswagen Diesel Gate, not only are the fuel economy good, but also the high performance models are increasingly popular.

Hyundai and Kia`s hybrid car sales have been 4677 units per month from 40,772 units last October to October, this year. However, in November, when oil prices rose sharply, the figure rose to 7155, or 52%. In particular, Kia Motors` Hybrid Hybrid, which gathers the advantages of hybrid and small-sized sport utility vehicle (SUV), recorded 3062 units, up 109% from the previous year. During this period, 2302 units were sold, and the Grandeur Hybrid was sold at the top of the list of hybrid car sales at once. Sales of the Sonata Hybrid also increased 102% MoM to 652.

Hybrid car sales increased by 39.1% in November to 2,415 units in the imported car market and Toyota`s new 8-generation Camry Hybrid is targeting the 30-40s with the keyword `wild hybrid`. The Camry Hybrid sold 423 units in October, followed by 572 units in November.

In light of the high oil price, light cars are also showing signs of resurgence, such as recovering 10,000 units a month in November. In November, sales of mini cars increased by 23.8% to 11,183 units from the previous month (9536 units). Kia Motors` sales grew 59.7% MoM in the 1997 sales, while Morning`s sales grew 18.8% MoM to 6010M and sales of GM Sparks in Korea also increased by 17.9 % to 3806.

Kia`s mini-car `Ray` will be launched with a new design after six years of launch.

Kia Morning, which showed domestic firsts in 2004, also exceeded 1 million cumulative sales. According to Kia Motors, Morning has sold a total of 1 million 11,777 cars in Korea by November this year for three generations since its launch in 2004.
