It has not been long before customers who use financial services can make deposits from robots at unmanned stores and consult customized financial products.

Woori Bank has introduced `Pepper`, a humanoid robot equipped with artificial intelligence (AI), for the `Robot Doors` era.

Woori Bank has launched Pepper in three business offices including the head office in Seoul, the Myeong-dong branch, and the Yeouido branch since the 11th. Pepper is responsible for providing services to shoppers, providing advice, recommending products, and introducing events at Woori Bank from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The robot is able to recommend products to users in four categories of financial products such as deposit, loan, insurance, and card. So far, it does not recommend products that meet user conditions, but recommends products based on previously entered information. It is not possible to provide financial services by Pepper alone, and it is only possible to perform supplementary roles such as loan, exchange, remittance, etc.

However, Woori Bank plans to enhance the function of Pepper so that it can recommend financial products that meet the conditions of direct users in connection with the banking system.

Pepper also has a variety of fun features to make users familiar with their experience with robots. It stimulates the curiosity of users through game elements such as picture taking and face recognition, age estimation and lunch recommendation, and provides a variety of information such as weather and movies through AI-based `Ask Pepper`.

When the user queries by voice, Pepper analyzes it and responds to it. However, related information is based on Wikipedia and does not provide financial information such as market conditions or exchange rates. In addition, natural language processing is not smooth because of lack of current learning. On the other hand, Woori Bank is utilizing the AI of LG U Plus, and the fact that learning results are applied will gradually improve the natural language processing.

On the other hand, Woori Bank plans to validate and utilize robot technology through Pepper during a one-year pilot period. In addition, Pepper will be able to provide financial services directly by adding limited features.

A bank representative said, "Artificial intelligence and robotics are rapidly being introduced into banknotes," he said. "Robots can play a limited role as bank employees."
