Korean Storage Giant Dell EMC is taking the lead in the market and growing its dominance. This is an analysis that shows the synergy effect of the merger with Dell last year.
According to the hardware (HW) industry on October 18, Dell EMC is estimated to have a market share of 45.6% in the domestic storage market in the second quarter (April to June). This is a 12.9 % point increase from the 32.7 % market share of Korea`s IDC in the first quarter of last year. In terms of sales volume, the company achieved a majority share (53%). The gap between HDS and second place has been increased fivefold.
The performance of HDS, HPE and Korea IBM, which have been competing in the domestic storage market, are deteriorating as Dell EMC increased its market share by 10% this quarter,. Especially, HPE has not been able to achieve any positive results even though it launched an extraordinary promotion policy that provides a 5% rebate on sales of 1244 domestic partners such as Platinum, Gold and Silver this quarter.
Dell`s share of the EMC market is predicted to be a result of industry analysis. The actual merger of the two companies` sales organization after the merger of Dell EMC in the first quarter of last year is February.
Dell EMC, which had a combined market share of 39% to 40%, accounted for nearly 50% of the market thanks to the synergistic effect of integration and qualified to sell both branded solutions to existing Dell and EMC partners. This cross-sell approval strategy was a decisive factor driving storage revenue. As a result, Dell and its EMC partners have nearly doubled their offerings and customers can now purchase Dell`s HW product line, especially servers and EMC storage at once.
"The broad product line is the greatest differentiator and competitive advantage for Dell in the IT industry," stated Valdian Bendel, vice president of EMC. He also said, "We can supply virtually any product related to our customers` IT operations, regardless of project size. Customers can customize their IT operations within Dell`s portfolio."
It is evaluated as the key to expanding share of partnership-friendly policies in Korea. In fact, Dell and EMC have retained a total of 200 domestic partners after the merger last year. Besides, the company is aggressively expanding its market by increasing partner marketing grants.
