Toyota`s sales in Korea have doubled every year for the past four years.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) on October 11, Toyota Motor Korea Corporation spent KRW 236.36 million in donations for the fiscal year 2016 (April 2016 - March 2017). During this period, the company posted sales of KRW 856.2 billion, up 43.44% over last year. The contribution ratio to sales is 0.02%.
Toyota Motor Korea Co., Ltd. (NYSE: TUF), which has sales of KRW 443.1 billion in 2013, has continued to increase its sales every year until 2014 (KRW 538.7 billion) and 2015 (KRW 599.9 billion). In the same period, it posted an operating loss of KRW 12.2 billion in 2013 and then turned to black in the next year to KRW 16.3 billion. In 2015, it recorded KRW 17.6 billion, up by 156.62% from last year to KRW 45.2 billion last year, and continues to march for three consecutive years.
However, the ratio of donations to sales decreased year by year. At the time of recording the deficit in 2013, the donation amounted to KRW 211.13 million, 0.047%. In 2014, it shrank to 0.02% last year after 0.045% (KRW 244.85 million) in 2015 and 0.039% (KRW 233.48 million) in 2015.
This contrasts with other import car companies. Benz Korea, which ranks first this year, has increased sales and increased donation portion for the past three years. Last year, Mercedes-Benz sold KRW 3.787 trillion and spent KRW 2.24million in donations. The contribution ratio to sales is 0.06%. In the same period, BMW Korea also maintained 0.06%.
Toyota Motor Korea is enjoying the second prime of the year thanks to the effects of Volkswagen`s diesel scandal and Lexus. During the company`s fiscal year, the domestic imported car market share increased by 3.32 percentage points from 9.72 percent last year (total of Toyota and Lexus) from the same period last year. German cars such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz are still strong, but they rank third in the Volkswagen vacancy.
Toyota Motor Co., a Korean official, said, "We have been contributing continuously since the record of the past deficit, and will increase from next year," despite the fact that sales have increased and sales have increased, said.
On the other hand, another Japanese car maker, Nissan Korea, spent 55 million won last year, and Honda Korea did not pay a penny.
